A deep breath of fresh air. The warmth of the sun on your skin. The rustling of leaves. The pitter patter of soft rain. Nature nurtures us and provides a sense of peace and relaxation. So it is not surprising that when society is busier than ever that one of the top home design trends is the fluid connection of indoor and outdoor spaces.
Well-designed oversized windows and doors not only bring views of the outside in but allow fluidity between indoor and outdoor spaces. Outdoor living blurs the hard lines between inside and outside. These designs often include floor-to-ceiling retractable glass walls and screens, stackable doors and new floor materials that contribute to a sense of converging the outdoors with the indoors. The outdoor spaces, be they verandas, porches, patios, sun rooms, pergolas and more, are being used for dining, cooking, entertainment and leisure.
Our two current homes plans, the Bungalow Loft and Two-Storey both feature great outdoor living spaces. The Bungalow Loft features a full width covered porch in the rear of the home. Large windows and French doors draw the outside into the Dining Room, Great Room and Kitchen. This large space provides opportunity for screening, an outdoor kitchen and/or a fireplace. The Two-Storey plan offers a wonderful wrap-around veranda at the front of the home; the perfect locale for connecting with the neighbourhood. The covered porch in the rear is accessed through the kitchen with a triple-sliding door. This great outdoor space similarly provides opportunity for cooking, dining, entertainment and relaxation.
